After Benign Facial Lesion Removal
- The surgical area must be kept moist! Keep petroleum jelly or triple-antibiotic ointment on the lesion for 4 to 5 days until it is re-epithelialized (smooth, dry, and pink)
- Keep area protected with SPF 30 moisturizing sunscreen when sun exposed. Minimizing sun exposure is best during healing
- The lesion will remain pink, with gradual fading over the ensuing weeks
- Very light-skinned patients may experience extended some redness and healing tissue can stay pink, in some cases for few months
- Make sure you keep your 8-week follow-up as cases with residual lesion may qualify for a revision
- Remember that scarring is a normal process even with the use of the most delicate of instruments
